ECOGAS Recognized at IUCX 2026 for Operational Transformation in Collaboration with Open

ECOGAS was awarded the Best CIS Implementation at the IUCX 2026 Excellence Awards, one of the most significant global events in the utilities sector. This recognition highlights a high-impact operational transformation resulting from a modernization process in which ECOGAS worked closely with Open to simultaneously implement a unified platform. This platform included the Customer Information System (CIS), Smart Meter Data Management (MDM), Field Workforce Mobility (MWM), and the Customer Self-Service Portal (CSS).

More than just the adoption of a new technological solution, the project represented a deep evolution in the company’s operations. ECOGAS faced the challenge of moving away from a fragmented environment consisting of 18 isolated systems to a more connected, agile, and consistent operation. The collaboration with Open played a key role in integrating processes into unified logic.

Alberto Torres, CEO of ECOGAS Mexico, commented:

“This award is a recognition of the teamwork, effort, and commitment of our employees. The implementation of Smartflex was not just a technological change, but a transformation of our organization. We have successfully integrated key processes such as customer management, measurement, billing, collections, and field operations from end to end, eliminating the reliance on isolated systems and manual tasks. Having a technology partner like Open was essential to the success of this project.”

The project involved the successful migration of data for over 170,000 customers and the inclusion of more than 57,000 users under smart metering, contributing to greater consistency in readings and improvements in the billing process quality. Throughout the project, ECOGAS applied high testing standards, ensuring that the go-live had no impact on its end customers.

This transformation resulted in reduced billing disputes, faster tax stamping, improved response times in customer service, enhanced field execution, and a simplified technological ecosystem for the company. These results reflect not only technological evolution but also a coordinated effort between business, operations, and technology teams.

“Working with ECOGAS was more than an implementation project; it was a demonstration of what happens when two organizations share the same drive for results. Their discipline, openness to change, and long-term vision are not minor attributes – they are exactly what distinguishes companies that transform from those that simply purchase solutions and wait for results.”

Said William Corredor, CEO of Open.

For ECOGAS, this recognition marks a significant step forward in its operational modernization journey and reinforces the value of driving transformation projects with long-term vision, disciplined execution, and strategic collaboration.
