Open’s Customers Benefit from Continuous Upgrade

In 2024, Open Intelligence delivered 119 new features to its customers across four releases, designed to effectively address the evolving needs of users. This year, we started January by announcing the launch of Release 51 of Smartflex V8, which offers enhancements that boost operational efficiency, optimize the customer experience, and strengthen security, enabling organizations to remain competitive in a constantly evolving digital landscape.

Miami, January 2025 — In a market where innovation is key, utility companies need to adopt continuous upgrade strategies to better position themselves to tackle technological challenges and ensure competitiveness. According to Gartner, organizations that implement technology solutions with automated, continuous updates experience 25% faster revenue growth compared to competitors who do not. Furthermore, Gartner emphasizes that hyper automation and distributed solutions will be fundamental for achieving greater operational efficiency and accelerating growth.

Aware of this reality, Open has developed a continuous upgrade strategy in Smartflex version 8. This approach ensures that companies can benefit from the latest technological innovations without disruptions to their operations, allowing for a seamless transition to each new release.

Julián Gallego, Revenue Assurance Manager in the Commercial Solutions Division of EPM, an Open client, highlighted,

“For us, having quarterly releases is a real advantage because it allows us to access functional and technical improvements much more promptly, making the adoption of these releases far more manageable. To maximize the benefits of Open’s releases, EPM has developed an internal strategy to ensure each release is successfully implemented in production without any negative impact on our end customers”.

Starting off 2025, Open announced the launch of Release 51 of Smartflex V8, which introduces significant improvements to enhance operational efficiency, optimize customer experience, and strengthen security. These innovations allow utilities to quickly adapt to market needs, deliver more agile and personalized experiences to their customers, and remain competitive in an ever-evolving digital environment.

In this regard, Juan Corredor, CTO of Open, concludes,

“In the utilities sector, staying up to date with the latest technological trends is essential to ensuring sustainability and competitiveness. Our continuous update strategy provides innovative tools that enhance efficiency, strengthen security, and prepare companies for future challenges, while reducing costs by avoiding disruptive and complex projects. Utilities are under pressure from every angle with tighter margins, stricter regulation, and competition, all while customers demand immediate resolution and seamless digital experiences. It’s no surprise that AI has become a strategic priority in almost every boardroom. However, a different reality often emerges: AI stuck in pilots, innovation labs, or isolated chatbots that never integrate into the core of day-to-day operations. Insights are generated, dashboards are built, but billing errors still occur, collections still linger, and field crews still respond to avoidable visits.
The energy sector is undergoing a deep transition, marked by changes that modify how energy is produced, distributed, and consumed. This creates challenges ranging from the decentralization of power grids to demand growth, which is driven by digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI). With this landscape in mind, a utility's adaptability no longer depends only on physical infrastructure but on the platform that supports all its business and customer management processes.
The energy sector is undergoing a period of accelerated evolution, marked by an adjustment in transition priorities and the increasing demand for renewable resources. This dynamic scenario presents both operational challenges and strategic opportunities for the most innovative utility companies. The key to navigating this environment lies in each company's agility, efficiency, and adaptability.
